About Me

My photo
St. Louis, Missouri
I have always thought of myself as creative (hence why I majored in marketing in college) however it hasn't been until recently I feel like I can take that side of me and put it towards crafts. I am still learning but this blog will allow everyone to learn with me.

Posterize and Pencil Sketch images on canvas

I wrote this blog yesterday but whenever I would sign on it wouldn't let me until today and the posting was no longer there. So I have no idea what happened but here I go again

I got two request for paintings like I did for my friend Kerri's wedding shower gift from a friend and my brother.  Since both of the pictures were so strong I decided to make these with just a simple color background.

It was this girl Diane's birthday and my brother wanted to do something nice for her. We have known her for along time so of course I jumped at the chance to do this for her. This picture was recently taken on her neice's birthday and I thought it was so cute. The image was already so dark so I had to do some computer magic with it to lighten it up enough to make this possible. In the picture it is hard to see the color of the background because when I finished it I had no natural light left and the gift was to be devieler that night, but it is a very pretty light grey background. Since Diane have alot of greys in her apartment I thought this will go nicely.  I also did the pencil sketch option to complete the picture. I love this picture so much because it really shows the love that is in this family.

This next picture was for my friend Liz's friend who just had her first baby. Liz saw Kerri's picture in person and asked if I could do something like that for her friend. I was nervous because this is the first time I did something for someone I didn't know. When I was looking through the pictures of that day I came across this one and fell in love. This picture was so awesome. Since I really didn't know this beautiful family and what their taste/home is like I wanted to go with a warm fun color and that is why I chose a golden/yellow. I did the posterize effect to it and I loved it so much. I did come across a problem when I didn't let the ink dry enough before removing the paper and most of the image came off with it. I went ahead and hand painted most the image.  I was really nervous about it but I thought it turned out great. My friend Liz told me that they loved the picture and put it up in their new daughter's room. The first picture here was taken a day before. I noticed there was some extra room on the bottom so I went ahead and put in the birth date on it to add alittle more something to the painting.
